my wife and i have a whirlpool afg 8271nfw upright frost free freezer that failed some 6 months ago we have been advised that whirlpool have had to manufacture a modified evaporator tube due to problems with the one supplied with the new freezer.any advice.the freezer is under 3 years old.

i unfortunately own a whirlpool fr ss 36af20/2a+ fridge freezer which is only 3 years old. in may 2009 the ice maker failed and i was told by the enginner it needed a new unit at a cost of 500. i told him to leave it aloan. then in september 2009 the fridge freezer failed completely. the enginner came out again but had to return to fit a new back control box at a cost of 300. it has failed again - this time the freezer will not atain the 18deg temp and the two dashes just keep flashing on the panel while i have to keep resetting it to fast freeze to keep the freezer food frozen. there is no chill at all in the fridge where i suspect that the fan that blows the chill from the freezer to the fridge compartment has failed - hence no chill in the fridge. i have emptied the fridge and freezer compartments, unplugged the unit from the mains and opened the doors to defrost the freezer over a period of the next 2 days with the intention of then starting the unit up again to see if it is a build up of ice that has caused the problem.
given the limited information that i have given you - can you please help to put me on the right track to get this fidge freezer functioning.
whirlpool have said the unit is written off and not worth repairing but i cant afford to throw away 1,200 having had less than 3 years service from it.

my american style whirlpool fridge freezer s20d rsb33-ag sure enough has developed the inherent fault as described on this page latest reviews. incessant clicking, ice maker and water feed failure. what is the fault and cost of repair. any help greatly appreciated. jeremy (oxfordshire uk)
